Time is
flying by as we are looking back and realizing that is has been one year ago
since we started with our commitment here in South Africa. The season is
changing as we started officially with spring and had already a couple of
wonderful sunny days, a good promise of the days ahead of us. It is wonderful
to think of all the amazing things that God has done over the last year as we
have seen Him being faithful in our lives and that of the people we work with.
And we can truly say that we recognize that all of this would have been
impossible without His grace and your prayers and support.
Capricorn God has been
working in wonderful ways in peoples life's over the past few months in the
township. We have been faithful with the ones God has given us and continued
only with the Bible studies during these winter months. In the last newsletter
we shared about our two ladies Bible studies but we have another Bible study
running in a computer shop that is growing out of the building already. It is
so awesome to see how God works through divine appointments. One of them was
with Samuel, a guy living in Capricorn that Kevin met as one of the first persons
in this township and has now done a DTS (Discipleship Training School), has
been to China and is fulltime in missions working with our team. Another person
is Krishna, he is from a township next to Capricorn but has family living in
Capricorn. During one of our Friday outreaches where we would set up a tent and
pray for the sick, Krishna came up to Kevin and as they started talking Krishna
found out that we were connected with YWAM.
At that moment he was actually on his way to walk around and find the
YWAM base because he had been in contact with people that were doing an
outreach in Capricorn that told him about our discipling school. Right now
Krishna has also done a DTS, has been to Thailand and is now doing a 9 months
program studying the Bible here in Muizenberg. Through him we get connected
with his family in Capricorn, his uncle has a computer shop where people can
come and use internet, fax, printer etc. His uncle Melli and his wife were
hungry for the Word of God and invited Kevin in to come and hold Bible studies
with them. That is exactly what has been going on for the last couple of
months. Every Friday at 11 o’clock they close the computer shop to have Bible
studies and anyone that is still in there has to just join in. This is where
life's get changed! People walk in to fax a paper and walk out as a born again
believer in our Lord Jesus Christ! We have seen amazing many life's being
changed and decisions being made for Christ as almost every week we would do an
alter call and share the good news and every time people have responded. Right
now this study has grown so much that the computer shop is too small to meet
with everyone. We are looking around to see if there is a bigger facility where
we can meet next year. Glory to God as He is in the business of changing
people’s lives for the good!!
Lifeskills
In July we started a 5
months program called lifeskills where we meet up with ladies that are hungry
for more of God and where we can follow up with people. We meet every Thursday
and have a teaching and time of worship in the morning where our focus is on
our identity in Him. After that we have lunch together and this will go into a
time of developing a skill with making something out of garbage and being able
to sell this. These ladies are all from Capricorn and some of them are part of
the Bible Studies on Fridays as well. It has been amazing to see some of them
grow and develop into the people God has created them to be and realizing His
amazing love for each one of them.Travel
We are very excited for this coming time as we are traveling together after being for a whole year on the ground here in South Africa. The purpose of this trip will be connecting with family, friends and supporters as well as ministry opportunities. We will be speaking and ministering on four different conferences in the United States and several Sunday services both in Holland and the States. We are going to combine this with traveling via The Netherlands. We will also be teaching on a discipleship training school from the 1-5 of October and starting our travel on the evening of the 5th. We are looking very much forward to connect with everyone again and specially to see our family as this has been the longest that we have been apart. The first week of our trip in the United States we will fly out to Seattle as we have been invited to come and speak on a youth conference “Generation Taking Stand”. The rest of the time of our visit in the US we will spend in the State Ohio. All further information about speaking engagements will be posted on our website www.flamesofpasssion.com
