Update April 2013

Dear friends and family,
Here a new update from us out of South Africa, time is flying by as we realize that our summer here is coming to an end and winter is at the doorstep. This year has been amazing for us so far, specially finding out about our pregnancy.

Pregnancy
We are doing very good and Mariella’s pregnancy has been so blessed. The baby is very healthy and moves and kicks a lot, which is amazing to experience. We are happy to tell you that we are expecting a baby girl! As you may have read in our latest update about our pregnancy you may remember that this life has been a miracle from God and this seems to only be more confirmed as God said, before we got pregnant,  in a vision to Kevin that He is giving us a daughter, we are excited that this is now also confirmed by our latest 21 week scan. God has been so faithful and so good to us and we are enjoying the season that we are in right now. As you can see on the picture, the baby bump is growing and we are entering 24 weeks.

Ministry
Ministry wise it has been quite a busy time for the last couple of months as we have taken over the full leadership of the Bethesda team for 3 months together with another friend of ours. As a ministry we have a leading by the spirit course of 6 weeks running twice a year, once overseas and once in South Africa. The first one this year we were running overseas in Montana, America and half of our team went to run the course there. We, together with 9 others, stayed in Cape Town to keep the Bethesda ministry running.  It has been a really good experience to work together as a couple in leadership. Our aim was also to go more into the city of Cape Town and beyond to minister and we have done quite a bit of that.

Reaching and preaching
We were invited to come to Worcester, where another Youth with a Mission base is located which is about a 2 hour’s drive from us, to minister. They asked Kevin to come and speak on a staff meeting, a community meeting and in an open air meeting in one of the poor communities in the area. We had a wonderful time as the Holy Spirit was moving and stirring up a hunger to seek His face and to go out into the harvest field. The open air meeting was in an area with a lot of poverty, crime and gangsters (see picture) but as a small team we came together and prayed out of a heart of hope and restoration as we serve a God with no impossibilities. We went into people’s houses and prayed for the sick and blessed anyone who wanted to be blessed. Kevin preached to gospel for everyone to hear and told a story for the kids as there where many gathering and sitting down to listen. It is most precious being here as a light in the darkness. Many were encouraged, heard the gospel and got prayed for.

Kevin got also invited by a friend to come along and speak to the Highschool kids of a public school in Cape Town called D.F. Malan. His friend was talking about missions and then Kevin shared the good news of gospel with them. The response was amazing!! Out of 60 students about 40 gave their hearts  to Jesus, Hallelujah!! It is as the Bible says in Romans 10:14

How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?

Here at the YWAM base in Muizenberg we have a discipleship training school running every 3 months and God has been opening doors as Kevin has been asked to come and teach on every single one of them. So in the beginning of May, he will be teaching and ministering to the students for one week about the Holy Spirit. Then the next school, in July, he is asked to share about power evangelism and in October he will be sharing about the kingdom of God. The last school that started in January asked him to come and share in their last week, before they went on outreach, about the kingdom of God and it was amazing to see the Holy spirit transform the students and fill them with His passion and boldness to go out and pray for the sick and share the gospel. As he taught on healing we also prayed for the sick and God gave him a couple of words of knowledge to share with the students. One girl was healed while she was still sitting on her chair and as Kevin was sharing the word he received, the power of God hit her and her right foot that was crooked started to straighten out and she got healed on the spot! Another word was for a guy with a knee injury, he was playing football on a high level and was not able to do that anymore after his injury. He was believing God for his healing for 15 years and got healed as Kevin shared the word he received from the Holy Spirit. He went out immediately to play and all the pain was gone, praise Jesus and glory to God!! What a privilege to pour into the youth that is about to go out into the world to share the love of Christ!
On the 18th of May there is a ladies conference that is organized from different churches and from different townships in the area. They have asked Mariella to come and share with the ladies and minister to them. Most of them come from really rough backgrounds and broken homes and life's  we pray that the Holy Spirit will come and touch and restore what is broken as He is our Healer and Counselor!

Looking ahead
In the past couple of months we have been really praying and asking for Gods direction when it comes to our time here as some of you may be aware that our official commitment of 2 years will be ending this September. It is just funny to see how God times things as we will have a newborn by that time. Even now we don’t know exactly how things are going to look like but one thing God has been speaking clearly to us and that is for us to stay in South Africa. He has not told us for how long but we have another year on our visa so in our minds we will at least stay that out. Of course we are still praying for His direction when it comes to us moving to the States, but all that He is telling us to do now is to trust Him and know that He will make a way. We have so much peace when it comes to that and God is doing so much in and through our lives here that we know He is not finished yet. We will keep you informed as things will unfold more and more with time.

We just want to say thank you once again for all of you who stand faithfully with us in prayer and support, you are a huge blessings in our lives!!

With love and blessing,
Kevin en Mariƫlla Kazemi
